A [[Supertanker]] (named for the [[Sirrius Haulage]] Supertanker) is a specialised type of [[freighter]] optimised for surface delivery. Most are designed for delivery of fuel oils or other fluids that require specialised delivery connectors not usually available in the limited space of [[line station]]s. Other versions include the [[Osterman Ark]], designed for transporting large animals.

The Supertanker has a [[downline]] rail attachment, letting it descend to the planet surface by riding the line between normal [[elevator]] services. It has a mounting point for a [[boost brick]] assembley, on the side opposite the line hook, in order to ascend the line while sacrificing minimal space for engines. The original S.H. model had wings suitable for gliding, and also [[thrusters]] suitable for limited maneuverability. Other ships based on this pattern have substituted other types of engines for atmospheric production.
