Government

Theoretically, the system is a democracy. However, the current government's propaganda and education systems are sufficiently intertwined to marginalise all opposition. Many citizens have never even considered the possibility that the government-run worldnet or media outlets could be wrong about anything.

This degree of control has been growing ever since the first election of the People's Representative Party in 966.

Media

The planet's TV and news networks are government run, although some shell companies present themselves as independent outlets. The TV network has only 18 channels, broadcasting a carefully selected mix of government-made news, and imported programming (including much from the Ecclesiastical Enrichment Network).

Conspiracy Theories

One of the most memorable events in recent history has been the collapse of the Nagani Building, headquarters of Nagani Manufacturing Corp, in 849. Originally blamed on an extraordinary weather pattern creating a high altitude cyclone, there were many rumours among anti-government sympathisers that this was just a cover and that the company had been attacked, possibly by a group who wished to end the manufacture of weapons on their world.

After six months, the Department for Safety released a new statement, revealing that the building had in fact been bombed by a radical christian science cult, the Portrait of Divinity Group. However, some are still not satisfied with this explanation.
