Honoured Father

A priest who is sympathetic to the activities of the Mafia. They may be willing to take confession and give absolution for crimes which they are supposed to report. Once amenable priests are identified (usually by ambitious rungboys), they will find a growing number of Mafia members coming to their church, until one day they are approached by a Boss and asked to become his personal confidante. In this role, they may still be approachable by the members of the Boss's group, although they will be expected to break the seal of the confessional and report any disloyal indiscretions to the Boss. On retirement, they may join the Inner Family as a retainer, still taking confession oroffering spiritual advice to family members as well as to Bosses who don't yet have a preacher of their own.
