An unusual phenomenon that occurs in some stars; the intense radiation front they admit travels at an exact multiple of the speed of light, and can cause immense damage to any electronic or quantum computational equipment. This is a rare occurrence, and it is usually possible for a lab to detect the event some time before it occurs. The body of a planet is usually massive enough to lens the wavefront, causing destructive interference sufficient to transform it to a mere scattering of electromagnetic radiation.

There has been some speculation that these storms are made more frequent if a star is subjected to stray GK particles, ejected from a temple ship. For this reason, when a temple is forced to jettison GK particles (as happened on Callifrey in OOC:Roadtrip), it is now normal to issue a warning to everyone in the system.
