Glideway

A long pathway, commonly used on class 5 and Class 6 planets as a form of mass transit. These pathways are treated with low-friction polymers, and often have either an air cushion on the surface, or some form of gravity reduction system, allowing people to 'skate' or 'glide' along the path with minimum effort. In most areas where they are used, these are considered safer than conventional vehicles as people don't move particularly fast, and a person's speed once they are moving is effectively constant.
