A TV show released by Magellan Cloud Metacasting. Originally, presenter Janis Culex started an independent (and unlicensed) video blog "Tales From the Closet", which was literally filmed in MCM's costume storage closet. The show was unplanned, and featured Culex hunting through laundry bins for celebrities' clothes, as well as interviews with junior technicians and set labourers about the film and TV productions they were working on. This became popular, as an alternative to the (often egotistical and overhyped) progress interviews usually given by writers and directors.
Eventually the show became authorised, with the closet being reconstructed on a sound stage to provide space for the network's more sophistcated camera equipment. This change was made quite clear to fans by Culex's highly reflective sunglasses, which allowed the audience to see the autocue (and also to know that the entire performance didn't follow script). Producers eventually conceded that this irreverant attitude was exactly why the show was so popular.
Guests are still selected by Culex and his co-presenters, usually the staff whose break-room conversation seems interesting and genuine. Guests with an agenda are usually unwelcome. On one occasion, when Wilyam Thorpe was scheduled for an interview on the orders of studio executives, Culex put a paper bag over the celebrity's head and led a walk-out by the presenters until Thorpe agreed to conduct the interview with the bag in place, and without mentioning his current projects.
As well as broadcasts on Magellan, the Closet has a large fan community online; episodes can normally be found on both transnet and on popular gates within hours of release. It has also spawned several shadowtalk terms, including In The Closet, Out of The Closet and Bag Head. Culex himself is known to be on shadownet under the alias MrAradian, and takes suggestions there for new segments for his show. He is known to be a friendly figure and acts like a normal user despite his fame. He has also mentioned The Monastery on air, which presumably slipped the censors because they don't know what it means. There has been some speculation on TV:Talk:Closet about which The Monastery he could be in.
