The registrar is a corporation established around <date>1500</date>. Their aim was to kmpose their own authority on the naming of new planets. They would charge inhabitants of a newly-settled world a large fee to provide an appropriate and Church-sanctioned name for the planet.

Although a lot of the advertising literature the company produced suggested that they were affiliated with thd church, yhis was not actually the case; as part of their services they registered as an agent of the planetary government in order to submit their chosen name to the Grand Synod for Celestial Nomrnclature.

Although they originally produced a catalogue of 667 candidate names (sufficient to bring the universe to the lucky number 999 planets), no new world has ever been a customer of the Registrar. However, their small administrative overhead has been met by a small number of planets using names from the list following a revolution or war. These include Frostlandia, Violet Groves, Aries, Lustra, Jihaadine, Silvinaratzekhstan, and Furia.
