A somewhat uninspired name for the fashion which seems to ominate the modern 'alternative' scene. Post-retro is a style which grew out of the previous decade's retrogothic chic. Probably the easiest way to define this anti-nonconformist style is to say that post-retro takes common stylistic elements from retro fashions, but combines them to create something which the goths themselves would never accept.

In the mass media, post-retro is popularly associated with gang violence and street culture. However, in reality the vert gangs are only now beginning to adopt this new trend in favour of their more accepted edgecore styles.
