Shadowtalk term for a conflict between a large number of people (especially in more than two factions) who are all armed with energy weapons. This term may also be found in general use on ultra-pacifist worlds such as Bane where even talking about the use of firearms is a crime. Both radical and radiation storms are commonly abreviated to 'rad storm', so there is just enough plausible denyability if use of these terms is overheard or recorded.
Etymology: By analogue with radiation storm, also something a sane person would never get involved in. When the weapon of choice was a las pistol, a prolonged gun battle would often leave a distinctive smell of ozone (the most widely known radical molecule) in the air. And like a storm, heavy use of plasma rifles can generate an atmospheric electrical charge.
