There are no aliens
Well ... maybe that's a bit of an overstatement. There are a few oddities in the TQ universe that you might consider to be alien life. Here's a quick summary:
Evolved Humans
On some worlds with extreme conditions, most notably Kreeg and the Vermendanyan Empire, the human population has started to evolve into something distinctly different from an average human. In the case of the Empire, this process was accelerated further by a directed breeding programme which was designed to evolve the perfect man.
While some animals on these worlds have evolved to such an extent that they are no longer capable of interbreeding with 'normal' members of their species, the same is not yet true of the humans.
Ancient Races
Men have discovered several artifacts which appear to be of artificial construction, but are not made by humanity. Two alien races, the Rheas and the Kyrallites, have been postulated as the creators of these items. While the artifacts left by these aliens are of distinctly different types, it is at present unknown whether they are actually the same race. Some even believe that one (or both) of these species are a myth created by some secret society or cult who have made technological discoveries and kept them from the rest of the population.
Simple Biology
Govan's World was found to be biologically active when the first settlers landed. The planet's native ecology seems to be based on a mixture of carbon and silicon, with a DNA analogue which has 5 known bases. The world's life, however, is limited to algae and some simple grasses.
Freaks
Found aboard derelicts, these creatures may once have been human.
