A TV drama series broadcast in 858. Unfortuntely, this series ran for only 5 episodes before being cancelled as promoting heretical or gnostic ideals.
The heroine, Lina Parka, had an unusual gift, or possibly a curse. One of the main themes seemed to be her desire to know whether this ability was a miraculous gift from God, or heretical magic which she would have to suppress.
The controversy of this show was that it was suggested that even if the power turned out to be magic, it could be used for good. This was considered unacceptable by the Commission for Anti-Gnostic Entertainment.
The Power
Lina's power was very simple - each day, on waking, she knew the day's "big question". In the pilot episode, the question "How did his brother die?" led her to realise that a kidnapped child (who they thought had no brother) had been accidentally switched at birth. The kidnapper was the kid's birth-mother, insane with grief, who had kidnapped back "her" child after his brother died in an accident.
The power only gives questions, however: Lina and her detective friends must still find the answers by mundane means.
Fandom
Almost immediately, the show spawned a shadownet echo TV:speculation:whichcraft. After it was cancelled, many of the fans used this echo to discuss rival show Real Worlds, because many fans liked both shows, and found it easier to discuss both in the same place rather than waiting for a new echo to gain subscribers.
The fan-made episode 'Which Witch?', released in 848, follows on from where the series left off. It took 3 years to make, and deals with a renegade wizard who has escaped from Magic World - assuming a connection with the Real Worlds universe.
