The word station is commonly used to mean:
1) Transit stations
A place where you embark and disembark on a train or other mass-transit system
2) Line stations
A satellite in geostationary orbit, usually connected to the surface by downline cables and elevators, where interplanetary craft can dock without entering a planet's gravity well.
3) Shadownet stations
Where shadownet messages are assembled and encrypted before being upstreamed to a temple ship's ghostnet mirror.
