Micces claims (when off the record) that his accident was part of a vertical drop race organised by the Bloody Kings, in which he was taking part under the terms of Ganlan's Way in order to settle a territory dispute between Greentalon and the Rage Carriers.

He claims that Telford Spont, of the Kings, traced a symbol on a wall with his own blood and then gestured at Micces, who somehow was drawn towards a cooling vent, hanging on an abseiling line nowhere near vertical.

Micces also claims that he completed the Way, in that he was still conscious on reaching level B111, despite discharge burns over 75% of his body.
