An informal network formed by an application known as a forwarder running on AirNet devices. Some clients also provide Gopherholes (route traffic over wired networks or telegraph systems), Wormholes (allow anonymized access to Worldnet nodes), and Black holes (route traffic to or over Shadownets).

Scatternets may split and pool unpredictably as devices move. They are completely decentralised, and patently insecure. Mostly only used on low-class planets, or in places (such as the Chrome Worlds) where open networks are forbidden (which means that scatternets are also illegal)
