A cruiser is one of the lightest forms of spacecraft in common use. They usually carry between 1 and 3 passengers, and are controlled by a single pilot. The most common form is a long vessel, with a main engine at the rear, maneuvering jets on a rudder at the front, and the crew compartment in the middle.

Uses

On a few remote systems (especially moon cities), these craft are used for travelling to neighbouring planets for trade. However, in most civilised parts of the galaxy they are more likely to be status symbols for upper middle class pilots. These ships are also used by diplomats and businessmen, who must travel often due to their work but prefer more privacy than a public shuttle can offer.
