Pre-Campaign Notes

The only child of a middle class family, Danyelle grew up in <address>the [/Spireholt] district of [Magellan/]</address>, with parents Joran and Caralyn. However, her mother died from “the plague” (which Danyelle never really found out what it was) when she was young.

As a child, her father pushed Danyelle to study programming and software design at school; he was obsessed with high-tech stuff, and hoped his daughter would have the talent he never had. She didn't really enjoy it though.

When Danyelle was 9 years old, she noticed that her father started to have a disturbing number of accidents. She started out speculating that some kind of gremlins were causing him incredibly bad luck, but then came to suspect his frequent injuries could be linked to his involvement with dangerous criminals.

A few years later, they moved to Lambert Arcade, and quickly started to accumulate the latest high-tech home appliances. Danyelle knew that her father had something of an obsession with gadgets, but now it seemed they had enough money to indulge his dreams.

Danyelle found out soon (from their occasional lodger Gerrard von Niffelheim, a Whence native) that her father was getting involved with a large criminal gang. He had made a name for himself as a fence, and was now well respected in the Wind Tunnel underworld.

At the age of 15, Danyelle joined a vert gang, the Closures, based in the maintenance ducts around a vertical power conduit at the centre of Wind Tunnel. On discovering some old (stolen) tattoo equipment, she found an artistic outlet for all the programming skills she'd learned as a child. She's gone to a lot of effort to stop her father ever finding out.

About 2 months ago, Danyelle discovered she may be pregnant. She told her current partner, Wallis Kraze (an 18 year old half-Vermen who controls the trade of certain drugs in a large part of Region 14), but never let on that another member, Gale Niffelheim, might actually be the father. Gale was the guy who introduced her to the gang.

She left the gang a month ago, finding their lifestyle a little too dangerous, but she never told them why. She also started attending hospital for regular checkups under the alias of Candy Candy (a fictional ID she created by hacking their computer system using a Palmtop Guru tattoo); the doctors know she's keeping her real identity secret to prevent her father finding out, but they haven't been able to persuade her to talk to her family.

On the 14th of this month, she told teachers at school that she was taking a sabbatical, saying that it was too stressful for someone in her condition. They called her father in, but couldn't legally tell him why she was leaving; there would probably have been an almighty row afterwards, but...

On leaving the school, the two were grabbed by men in black suits, and dragged into an unmarked Micro Cruiser.
