Boss (Mafia)

Boss is a rank in the Castillian Mafia, usually responsible for either a specific type of operation (such as money laundering) or a specific city district. A Boss is supported by an Honoured Father, who acts as both confidante and secretary, as well as a group of between 10 and 50 Family Soldiers. He may recruit more Soldiers, often from rungboys or relatives of those already in the group, but if he wants his own children to follow in his footsteps, they must join a different group.

Bosses have the highest fatality rate of any Mafia rank. Those who grow their group too fast may even find that they are executed on the orders of the Inner Family, as it may be seen as the first threat of a future coup. Those who survive and are trusted may end up becoming Safe Men, or even joining the Family themselves.
