An Antipope is a person who rejects the legitimacy of the current pope, or of the pope's divinity in general. Unlike many other heretics, these individuals accept church doctrine for the most part. Most of them would have followers believe (especially if they lead a cult) that they are the rightful heir to the papacy; that they should be the pope. This may be by claimed right of immaculate conception, or because of a dangerous belief in some alternate method of determining succession.
