Deadpool

Deadpool is one of the most dangerous unofficial planets in the universe. Although it is not (and never has been) on the temple ship timetables, it is reachable by discontinuous transit from Marlinspike.

With no government, its a perfect hiding place for criminals wanting to hide from the FCI or other Federal legal authorities. However, the world itself is less than hospitable. Its 4 moons, <address>[/Killingspree], [/Wang], [/Massive Torque] and [/Asshole] (named by the self-proclaimed Swamp President Jacob I) lead to violent tidal patterns by which even the highest mountain ([/Fatal Island/Mount Dead Drop])</address> is at times 300m below sea level. In addition, the moons themselves contain high proportions of radioactive heavy elements.

Among the human population, who have managed to cultivate some vegetation (such as floating kelp) around very rugged houseboats, the society purely believes in survival of the fittest. Here, offworld currency has no value (except to those who are trying to save up for a ship to take them elsewhere - which is nearly impossible). The de facto unit of exchange is the Kruge, its value certified by the Swamp King and his band of killers. They use coins made from human toe bones, which makes forgery a difficult affair (though not as rare as most people would hope).

As well as the high levels of crime, there is a perpetual war going on betwen the heads of different gangs, as well as an effective race war between new arrivals and 2nd-generation inhabitants (98% of 3rd generations die before they are a year old)

The main causes of death among the population are:

• 60% cancers
• 30% violence (crime and war)
• 6% drowning/environmental
• 3% radiation sickness
• 1% other
