Shadowtalk term for a detective, or other law enforcement professional able to act on their own discretion. A smartcop is someone known to pick at irregular occurances and mysteries, analysing evidence and making deductions. A smartcop is also defined by their ability (and authority) to make value judgements on whether or not an offence is worth prosecuting, usually seeking to bring justice into the world rather than blindly upholding the letter of the law.
