A sector of Magellan, home to many of the world's rich and famous citizens. However, an appartment in Linehouses is not something which can simply be bought. New residents - whether they have bought a property, or found someone willing to let it to them - must first become members of the Linehouses Community Group, requiring approval from at least 2 of their new neighbours.

The sector itself is on city levels O161 to O168 - adjacent to many A-level structures. The entire sector hangs from 6 lines (each with its own elevator), and so it has a great view over the city.

The lowest 2 levels are taken up by a park and observation gallery, as well as landing space for those flying across from nearby
[1] or [2]
towers. There is a supermarket at the centre of each level for convenience. The remainder of the sector is private homes. Each home is on 1 or 2 levels, and has between 5 and 50 metres of external wall. The entire sector is modelled as an appartment complex, so there are no outdoor 'streets', except for a few enclosed tunnels connecting the park to private garages. As a result, an appartment will only have windows along one wall - looking out of the sector over the rest of the city.

Lower Linehouses

Not technically part of Linehouses, though they are often regarded as such. These appartments hang from lines below the park. Because they are only accessible by flying vehicles, and have no road or elevator connections, the city government did not issue these dwellings an official city level number.

Some residents have, in the past, claimed extraterritoriality under a technicality of Magellan law - although this has never gone to court in a serious case.

Each 'hanging house' is a singe dwelling, hanging from a single thread of downline, possibly with another house hanging from the bottom. The length of these lines varies from 6 to 65 metres, and there are 19 such properties in total.
