Frostlandia

Frostlandia is the new name (supplied by the Approved Names Registrar) of the world formerly known as Bergizholistan. The planet's original settlers intended to seek alliance with the Vermendanyan Empire, but after the 20 generations of selective breeding that the Empire requires for incoming worlds, the people decided that they did not share their founding ancestors' ideals. Therefore they elected to instead seek alliance with the Federation of Known Worlds, in order to remove the remaining Imperial administrators.

Although the removal of Imperial forces is known as the Battle of Johnson's Declaration (after first independant president Fial Johnson), there was no actual battle. The sole Imperial warship tasked with defending Bergizholistan left as soon as they discovered that the Federation ambassadors to the talks were actually armed and not bluffing. The single shot fired in this 'battle' was a one-gun salute to mark the President's inauguration.
