Originally trained as a mining engineer at the University of Balingrad, Jon soon left this career when he married Froskimo native Umai Wordsmith Sovive. Her unworldly beauty made her a natural as a model and professional celebrity, and Jon travelled with her as her manager and accountant. Following his wife's nervous breakdown (and the alleged death of their daughter Antoinette Blake), he returned to mining and became a project supervisor for the Superior Mining Consortium.
