Pinion Racket

1. A fictional type of reactive engine, allegedly created by Marquin 'Menno' Flexor, in an attempt to outshine fellow engineer Arkady Gobb. Rumours abound that Flexor was jealous over the success of the Gobbs Jet, and became obsessed with trying to outdo his business partner's creation. There is no historical evidence to suggest any animosity between the two, and their friends always said that both were more concerned with the success of the company than with the credit for what everyone knew was a joint invention.
2. Shadowtalk term: A commotion over nothing. If a shadownet commenter mentions another's disability, ethnicity, or social class; but in a way which that person does not find offensive, then any other participants who leap in with accusations of discrimination or abuse are said to be inventing a Pinion Racket.
