Sawtooth

A genre of music, initially popular in the Calibre City indie scene, but with growing commercial success on many high-Infrastructure planets.

The style was originally created by independent band Chasing Other, for their debut album (unnamed, but now generally referred to as Sawtooth). The synthesisers on this album were all configured with sawtooth wave or reverse sawtooth samples, and the cover art was a literal saw blade as a reference to this.

Many musicians inspired by the style have since used similar tonal progressions, and similar styles of lyrics, though without the sawtooth waves. One self-aware characteristic of the genre is that Sawtooth album artwork nearly always includes a powered or manual saw of some variety.
