The planet Nix, part of the United Democratic League, is quite an isolationist world. Their art and culture is virtually all home-grown; there are only 2 major TV networks, Nix Notional Network (who also run a number of theatres) and Alternative Studios. It seems that the culture is based around a disdain for anything foreign; many technologies (such as cellular telecoms, and AirNet-alternative Closenet) were only adopted by most Nixin people once their discovery or invention could be duplicated by the planet's own scientists. Gadgets based on foreign technology may be imported by a few individuals, but will rarely be widespread. Nix has its own manuacturers of computers, cars and spacecraft; as well as its own authors, actors and musicians.
