Deneb is a group of 3 inhabited planets and 3 moons (around the outer planet) with a single government and administration. The star (unimaginatively known as Deneb's Star) also has an outer planet (a rock giant) known as Gess which is intermittently mined for heavy metals during times of economic depression, but has no permenant habitation.
The innermost rock has an unusualy high concentration of certain organic molecules (mostly aromatic alkynes) which make the land masses appear oddly irridescent from orbit. One of the planet's most popular tourist attractions is a station in the same orbit which provides an excellent view of this phenomenon.
