Magellan/Gate Basin

A district of Magellan, bordered on the south by <address base="Magellan">[/Evensbridge] and [/Still Forges], and to the north by the districts of [/Red Park] and (above it), [/Spireholt]</address>. This sector is wide and flat, a dish-shaped area directly beneath the "Gate", a half-kilometre wide opening in the O-layers through which elevator/ship hybrids and even occasional freighters (carrying cargo too bulky to be easily transferred to other craft) can descend.

Gate Basin was a warehouse district, with several landing fields for freighters, back when Magellan was only a class 3 world. Now, many of the old warehouses still have rooftop docking facilities for Supertanker-class elevator ships coming down the nearby Downline 17. Many other warehouses have been converted into living space for the low-earners who make up most of the Basin's staff.
