Sparx Chromehead

A robot designed by Sparx Electronics, and manufactured under license by a number of companies on different planets. The most successful manufacturer has been Dai Hard Production's plant in <address>[Zheff/Welsh City]</address>, which bought the franchise in 890, just weeks before the start of the Chrome epidemic. This then produced several million units per week, in order to meet the demand for cheap general-purpose robot labour to replace the infected workforce on Zheff, Fylings and Catterall.

This android was the inspiration for the general slang term Chromehead, referring to an non-human-looking android with a humanoid frame.

Appearance

It is 1.8m tall, and has human proportions with the exception of its forearms, which are 12cm longer than a human's would be. Its skeleton is made of 3.2cm diameter polytrexate tubes, and its joints are protected within spherical enclosures. Its main motors are in the chest section, protected by a hexagonal wire mesh. It is powered by a small ZPM in its 'head', which is shaped like a human head but decorated with bands of metal.

They are available in a variety of colours including shocking pink and white, though classic voltage (white with blue edging) is the most popular. The Dai Hard version is slightly different, with those purchased by planetary authorities being molded in a distinctive brushed aluminium finish.
