Alfeya Edutainment

Originally based on Alfeya, this company is responsible for creating both educational and propaganda TV and film productions. However, following the outbreak of Chrome on their home planet in 890, most recording activities were transferred to studios on Magellan. The Alfeyan office became the centre for concept research, and also opened a new branch specialising in merchandise design.

Following a new contract in 978, Alfeya Edutainment now subcontracts all production activities except animation to the magellanic Entertainment Network. The branding of shows envisioned by AE and created by MEN is determined on a case-by-case basis by a special marketing team. Meanwhile, AE is now responsible for manufacturing merchandise for most child-oriented MEN series, as well as their own creations. These toys are designed on Alfeya, and manufactured on a small number of sites. Only those destined for Alfeya, Catterall and Zheff are constructed on Alfeya itself.

In 966, in order to prevent dead time in their manufacturing plant, Alfeya Edutainment created the Robopuppy electronic pet, which was intended to promote care and consideration as positive qualities in children. However, the puppy (and its later companion Robokitty) also proved highly popular among adults, as simple software hacks turn these androids into pets which do not suffer from being unfed when work commitments are too much.
